A pen stand? in the form of a figurative porcelain statue with an inscription on the base: “Scholz in Schutzling”. Vienese actor Wenzel Scholz in Johann Nestroy’s 1847 comedy Schutzling, in which the playwright responded to social changes after the start of the Industrial Revolution. The play was very popular and was the subject of frequent commentary in the press at the time.
